PLAY BALL!: After clinching the team's second Big West series win of the season over the weekend, the UC Davis softball team (24-17) steps out of conference play for the final time this season, hosting California in a single game on Wednesday (April 25) at 4 p.m. at La Rue Field.

LOOKING AHEAD: Following Wednesday's contest, the Aggies hit the road for the final time this season, heading to Southern California for a three-game series against league-leading Cal State Fullerton at Anderson Family Field on April 28-29. Saturday's doubleheader will be broadcast live on ESPN3 with Sam Farber and former Long Beach State pitcher Erin Jones Wesley on the call.

CAN'T MAKE THE TRIP?: Live stats and video will be available for Wednesday's game against the Golden Bears. Links will be made available on the softball schedule page at UCDavisAggies.com, while in-game updates will also be posted on the team's Twitter page at @UCDavisSB.

IN THE POLLS: California is receiving votes in both the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball top 25 polls released on April 24. Wednesday marks the Aggies' eight game against a team either nationally ranked or receiving votes at the time of the contest with UC Davis posting a 3-4 record in its previous seven such contests thanks to wins over receiving votes San Diego State (Feb. 11), receiving votes Fresno State (Feb. 16), and No. 18 Oklahoma State (Feb. 24).

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN BEARS: California enters the weekend with a 29-13 overall record and a 4-10 mark in the Pacific-12 Conference after posting a three-game sweep of Utah at home over the weekend… The Golden Bears are a perfect 4-0 in midweek games this season without surrendering a run, posting victories over UC Davis (1-0), Saint Mary's (3-0), Pacific (5-0), and Saint Mary's once again (13-0 in five innings)… Senior utility player Jazmyn Jackson leads all regulars with a .366 average, 29 runs scored and 24 RBI, standing as one of three California players to bat better than .300 on the year and helping the Golden Bears hit .290 as a team… Junior right-hander Kamalani Dung, a transfer from Fresno State, leads the pitching staff with a 17-3 overall record in 26 appearances, posting a 2.03 ERA and striking out 154 batters in 131 innings while holding opponents to a .180 average.

SERIES RECORDS: According to records that date back to the 1972 season, California leads the all-time series with UC Davis, 28-6, following a 1-0 victory in Berkeley, Calif., earlier this year… The two teams played regularly for a decade from 1972-82, before a hiatus that saw no head-to-head meetings until 2006… The Golden Bears have won the last 25 consecutive meetings with the Aggies dating back to a 4-1 UC Davis win during the 1978 campaign... California has won all 13 meetings during the program's Division I era, with six of those contests decided by two runs or fewer.

AROUND THE HORN…
• UC Davis is 1-2 in midweek games this season, falling to California on Feb. 14 and splitting a doubleheader with Saint Mary's on Feb. 28...
• The Aggies' 24 wins this season are the most in the Erin Thorpe era and the highest overall win total since the 2013 UC Davis squad finished with 25 victories…
• Two more wins this season will match the 2010 squad for the most in the program's Division I history after UC Davis finished with 26 victories that year…
• At 6-6 in Big West play, the Aggies are just one conference win shy of matching last season's total with nine league games remaining, while two more conference victories would give UC Davis its highest total since the 2014 squad finished 9-12…
• With series wins over CSUN and UC Riverside this season, the Aggies have won multiple Big West series in a single season for the first time since the 2014 squad took 2-of-3 against Cal Poly, UC Riverside, and Hawai'i…
• UC Davis collected a total of 25 hits in the first two games of the Riverside series as the 12 hits in the opener and the 13 hits in the nightcap trail only the team's 14 hits against UTEP on Feb. 11 for the most in a game this season…
• Freshman Brooke Yanez went the distance in both her starts last weekend against UC Riverside, giving her 19 complete games on the season - the most by an Aggie since Jessica Hancock finished with 29 in the program's first official season at the Division I level and the second highest total in the program's Division I history…
• Yanez's 165 strikeouts this season are also the most by an Aggie since Justine Vela finished with 175 in 2013…
• With her two-hit performance in the series opener against the Highlanders, freshman Alyse Rojas collected her 18th multi-hit game of the season - the most since Alex Holmes finished with 19 such games in 2010 and two shy of the program's Division I record of 20 held by Christa Castello in 2014…
• Alyse Rojas' 53 hits already rank in a tie for the sixth most in a single season in the program's Division I history, just 10 shy of Brianna Warner's record of 63 set last season…
• Junior Meghan Bradbury had herself quite a weekend against the Highlanders, driving home the game-winner in the eighth inning of the series opener with a double and slugging her first home run in the seventh inning of Sunday's finale - the latter her first in more than two years dating back to a two-home run game as a freshman against Nevada in 2016…
• Sophomore Isabella Leon was a constant presence on the base paths all weekend against the Highlanders, reaching base in six of her 11 plate appearances -- including a team-high four walks in the three games to help extend her streak of six consecutive games reaching base safely - the longest active streak in the Aggie lineup heading into Wednesday.
