DAVIS, Calif. - Both the sun and UC Davis women's tennis team shined on the Marya Welch Tennis Courts on Thursday morning as the Aggies left their courts with a shutout of UC Irvine, 7-0, their second Big West Conference victory in as many days this competition week.

UC Davis is now 13-3 overall, which includes a 6-1 record in Big West Conference play.

The home team entered the match swinging as they went on to secure the doubles point early on with wins from Aggie tandem Kristina Breisacher and Lani-Rae Green at the No. 1 position, and then at the No. 2 position by Nikita Pradeep and Sara Tsukamoto.

UC Davis's success from doubles play carried over into singles play as they went on to claim all six matches via straight-set wins. Breisacher started the ball rolling with her 6-1, 6-2 victory over Stephanie Hazell at the No. 1 position, while freshman Shirley Hall followed directly after with her win over UC Irvine's Jacqueline Tsodikova, 6-0, 7-6(2).

Pradeep, who continues to maintain her undefeated singles record this season, officially clinched the team win for the Aggies after defeating the Anteater's Flora Amiri, 6-4, 6-1. The Sugar Land, Texas, native is now 13-0 for the 2018 dual season.

Although UC Davis secured their 4-0 victory over UC Irvine, both teams continued to play through the remainder of the singles matches; however, the Aggies continued to outshine the visiting team. Green brought the score to five after defeating Stephanie Nguyen, 6-0, 7-5, at the No. 2 position, while junior Isabella von Ebbe responded with a win of her own over Arianna Tilbury, 7-5, 6-1, playing at the No. 5 spot.

Tsukamoto's match officially rounded out the Aggie scoring at seven with her 6-3, 6-4 victory over the Anteater's Yulin Chen.

The UC Davis women's tennis team returns to action next Saturday at noon (Apr. 7) to play against San Jose State's team on their courts.
