DAVIS, Calif. -- The UC Davis women's tennis team bumps their overall record to 11-3 for the dual season after leaving the courts with a 4-2 victory over Idaho at the Marya Welch Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon.

The Aggies faced tough competition in doubles play, and it took until the last match to determine which team would come away with the 1-0 lead going into singles. Idaho's doubles teams ended up with it after their wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, but in-between those matches, UC Davis duo Shirley Hall and Sara Tsukamoto pushed through to get a 6-1 doubles victory over partners Maggie Chen and Marta Magalhaes.

It was not until singles play where the Aggies out-shined the Vandals. UC Davis brought the match to a 3-1 score after collecting the first three match wins. The first came from Kristina Breisacher, who defeated Marianna Petrei in straight-sets, 6-1, 6-3, at the No. 1 position. Following directly after Breisacher came teammates Hall and Tsukamoto, who scored the second and third team point, respectively, after getting straight-set victories over their opponents.

The Vandals went on to score a singles win at the No. 5 position to temporarily bring the score to a one-point difference; however, Lani-Rae Green responded with a three-set win at the No. 2 position over Idaho's Lucia Badillos, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, to officially clinch the team win at a final 4-2 score.

The UC Davis women's tennis team will make a quick turnaround to action as they prepare to face Utah's team at the Marya Welch Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon.
