DAVIS, Calif. - After winning its first league game of the season last week at Hawai'i, one of the toughest places to compete in the Big West, UC Davis will continue its conference-opening six-game road trip this weekend at Long Beach State. First pitch for Saturday's doubleheader, and Sunday's season finale, is scheduled for 1 p.m.

In addition to live stats links, an internet radio broadcast of each game is available online by clicking here, and locally in Long Beach on KBEACH 88.1 FM.

As has been the case all season long, expect UC Davis to remain aggressive when on base and force Long Beach State's pitchers to face uncomfortable situations all season long. No Big West team has swiped more bags this year than the Aggies and their 60.

On the other side of this situation are the 49ers, a team that has stolen only nine bases, a league-low figure, this season. Comparatively speaking, the Aggies recorded six steals last weekend at Hawai'i.

As indicated by this season's stats, both Aggie and 49er softball fans can expect a highly-competitive series from start to finish since these teams hold similar totals in nine categories: slugging percentage, RBI, doubles, home runs, strikeouts, sacrifice flies, sacrifice bunts, opposing batting average and batters struck out. In each of these categories, UC Davis is ranked either one spot ahead, or behind, Long Beach State -- an at-large selection in last year's NCAA Tournament.

The 49ers' current eight-game homestand will conclude against UC Davis this weekend; in its first league series of '17, LBSU won last Saturday's doubleheader by 3-1 and 2-1 scores before CSUN responded by blowing out the 49ers, 10-1.

As the only Big West team to open its league schedule with consecutive road series, the Aggies will enjoy a nice luxury once the team returns to Davis on Sunday. Starting with its next series/home opener vs. Cal State Fullerton (April 14-15), nine of softball's remaining 15 league contests will take place at La Rue Field.
