DAVIS, Calif. - Starting with this week's four-game homestand, La Rue Field will host seven of softball's final 10 games of the season, including six games against Big West teams. After Cal visits Davis for Wednesday's 4 p.m. tilt, the Aggies will host Cal Poly in this weekend's league series. Saturday's doubleheader, and Sunday's series finale against the Mustangs, will begin at 12 p.m.

As part of Faculty and Staff Appreciation days, UC Davis personnel can purchase a discounted ticket by clicking here and entering the code SOFTBALLSTAFF. Tickets must be purchased online, and in advance before arriving to La Rue Field.

Saturday and Sunday are designated Youth Softball Weekend days; youth players who arrive to La Rue Field in their team jersey will receive free admission, and have an opportunity to participate in a post-game autograph session.

If last year offers any indication, expect an exciting non-conference battle between UC schools on Wednesday. When the Aggies and Golden Bears met in Berkeley last year, a home run derby erupted before the day concluded, with Cal sneaking past UC Davis, 5-4, by plating the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh.

Wednesday's meeting will mark the first home game against the Golden Bears since Feb. 13, 2013.

Three days after competing in its final non-conference game of the season, UC Davis will face a Cal Poly squad coming off a 1-2 weekend at CSUN. Including last weekend's results against the Matadors, the Mustangs dropped five of their last six games, all against league squads.

When talking about Cal Poly, every discussion begins with senior right-hander/infielder Sierra Hyland. Earlier this season, Hyland threw a perfect game against Creighton; her latest highlight took place on Monday when she became the first Big West player drafted by a National Pro Fastpitch team in eight years.

The conference's all-time strikeout leader also ranks No. 2 in Big West history with 151 career appearances, No. 4 with 871.2 innings pitched and No. 8 with 75 victories.

Cal, and Cal Poly, will face an Aggie team coming off a clutch seventh-inning comeback in its previous game, which took place Sunday at UC Riverside. Thanks to Ashley Lotoszynski's two-out single, which scored two Aggies, UC Davis collected its eighth one-run win of the season.
