March 26, 2017 DAVIS, Calif. - With Kristina Breisacher and Isabella von Ebbe's 7-5 doubles victory - their fifth doubles win in a row - over Northern Colorado's Anna Battersby and Marissa Baca in Sunday's non-conference dual at the Marya Welch Tennis Center, UC Davis tied the doubles score at 1-1 with one matchup remaining. The Bears won that contest to take a 1-0 overall lead into the singles round, a team point that ultimately became their only highlight of the day because the Aggies swept all six singles matches to record a 6-1 victory.
With the win, UC Davis extended its home streak to six matches, collected its seventh victory in the last nine duals and will enter its upcoming three-match Big West road swing with a 13-5 overall record. Northern Colorado will return home with a 6-8 mark.
The Aggies' singles surge began with Nikita Pradeep's 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Baca, continued with von Ebbe's 6-1, 6-1 result against Lily-Ana Kreutzer, and Kristy Jorgensen's 6-3, 6-3 victory versus Battersby.
With her straight-sets result, von Ebbe has now won her last nine straight singles matches.
When Lani-Rae Green walked off the court with a 7-5, 6-0 win, UC Davis officially won the event with two singles matches still in progress. Once Jessie Lee secured a 7-5, 6-2 straight-set victory, and Breisacher secured a 5-7, 6-1, 10-7 result of her own, the Aggies' sweep became official shortly thereafter since the Bears were simply overmatched on every court during individual play.
Women's tennis' final road trip of the year includes stops at Cal State Fullerton (March 30), CSUN (March 31) and UC Irvine (April 2) before it ends the season with three straight home duals.
