DAVIS, Calif. - Off to its best six-game start in the program's Division I history - even though the 2011 squad won 11 of its first 13 duals, it began that season with a 4-2 record - UC Davis will head to Hawai'i for its next two matches. Included in this weekend's action is a non-conference contest against Chaminade and the Aggies' Big West opener at Hawai'i.

This road trip is a unique one for one member of the women's tennis team as Lani-Rae Green will return home for a few days. The junior hails from Kekaha, Hawai'i, located on the island of Kauai.

For Chaminade, Friday's match is the first of its season, and the only home event that will take place for the entire month. In addition to three freshmen that will make their debut for third-year head coach Ty Aki are six returners, including Kim Spring, a senior two-sport student-athlete.

Spring competed for the Silverswords' women's volleyball team the last three seasons and ended her career in that sport last fall ranked No. 4 in school history with 1,104 career kills.

The day after competing in this non-conference contest, UC Davis will face the Rainbow Wahine in its first Big West Conference match of the season.

Hawai'i opened its league slate on Tuesday with a 4-0 victory over CSUN. With that result, UH will enter its next match, vs. the Aggies, with a 3-2 overall and 1-0 Big West record.

UC Davis' last visit to the UH Tennis Complex never officially took place since inclement weather did not allow the teams to complete their dual, even though singles action took place. With one set already completed on all six courts, game officials decided to suspend that 2014 contest and resume at a later date, if needed. Since seedings at the Big West Women's Tennis Tournament that year were not affected, that matchup ended as a no contest.

Even though Hawai'i leads the all-time series 6-3, and won the last four head-to-head duals, the Aggies split the two official results recorded on the islands, winning their matchup in 2006 by a 4-2 score before dropping a 4-3 match in 2012.

Saturday's matchup will mark UC Davis' 10th league opener as a member of the Big West Conference; a victory will give the team an even 5-5 split of those duals. The Aggies last victory in their first BWC match of the year took place in 2015 when it turned a 3-1 deficit at Cal State Fullerton into a thrilling 4-3, come-from-behind victory.
