PLAY BALL: Fresh off its first series victory of the season, the UC Davis baseball team opens a stretch of five straight away from home against a trio of Pac-12 Conference powers on Tuesday (Feb. 28) at 5:30 p.m., taking on Stanford at Sunken Diamond.

IN THE POLLS: Stanford is ranked among the top 25 in four major national polls, standing as high as No. 16 in the nation according to the latest NCBWA rankings released on Feb. 27… The Cardinal are also ranked No. 19 according to D1 Baseball, No. 22 according to Baseball America, and No. 25 according to Collegiate Baseball… The Aggies are unranked.

LOOKING AHEAD: Following Tuesday's game, the Aggies head north to Oregon for a three-game series at Oregon State from Friday-Sunday, before taking on Oregon in a single game on Monday. First pitch against the Beavers is scheduled for 5:35 p.m. on Friday, 1:35 p.m. on Saturday, and 1:05 p.m. on Sunday, while UC Davis ail take on the Ducks at 6 p.m. in Eugene.

ABOUT THE CARDINAL: Stanford enters the week with a 5-2 overall record, having won five straight after dropping the first two games of its opening series against Cal State Fullerton… The Cardinal also posted a mid-week win over Cal Poly and swept a three-game set against Kansas last weekend at home… Tuesday's game against UC Davis will be the midpoint of a nine-game home stand for Stanford… Sophomore infielder Duke Kinamon leads the offense through the first seven games, hitting .435 with three doubles and six runs scored, while Mikey Diekroeger (.417) and Alex Dunlap (.393) are out to double-digit starts in hits… The Stanfond pitching staff has posted a 2.14 ERA and held opponents to a .172 average against through the first seven games.

SERIES NOTES: According to records that date back to the 1960 season, Stanford leads the all-time series with UC Davis, 51-14, including a 10-5 lead during the Aggies' Division I Era… The Cardinal have won the last four meetings dating back to a 2-1 UC Davis victory in 2013, winning three times last season by the scores of 5-2, 14-9 (a game that started in Davis, Calif., but was finished at Sunken Diamond due to darkness), and 3-1… Half of the Aggies' wins in the series have come on Stanford's home field, but UC Davis has lost its last five trips to Sunken Diamond since an 11-2 victory on May 19, 2009.

VERSUS THE PAC-12: UC Davis has played 10 of the 11 current baseball-playing members of the Pac-12 Conference, having faced every team but USC… The Aggies are a combined 50-133-1 against the league, with the majority of those games played against Bay Area rivals California (67) and Stanford (65)… UC Davis holds a winning record against Utah (12-9) and is 2-2 in four all-time meetings with Oregon State, while also posting wins in series against UCLA (1-2), Washington (3-4), Washington State (4-5), and Oregon (1-2).

AGGIES INVADE RALEY FIELD: UC Davis will host Big West Conference rival Cal Poly at Raley Field -- home of the San Francisco Giants' Triple-A affiliate Sacramento River Cats -- in the second game of their three-game series on April 14. After having played the role of the visiting team four times in Causeway rivalry games against Sacramento State at Raley Field, the Aggies will host a game at the ballpark for the first time since 2005, when they welcomed reigning NCAA champion Cal State Fullerton for the opener of a three-game series against the Titans. RAZO NAMED PITCHER OF THE WEEK: UC Davis junior left-hander Orlando Razo has been named the Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday, following a record-setting performance that helped the Aggies to a win over Utah Valley. It is the second consecutive week that Big West weekly honors have been bestowed upon a UC Davis baseball student-athlete after senior teammate Jacob Thomas was named the league's inaugural player of the week for the 2017 season on Feb. 20.
