FRESNO, Calif. - UC Davis turned a 2-0 deficit into a 4-2 lead in the first of two Saturday games scheduled at the Bulldog Classic, but No. 12/11 battled back to score three runs in the bottom of the seventh to edge UC Davis, 5-4. In the Aggies' final game of the day, they matched the Bulldogs - who entered their tournament receiving votes in both national polls - inning-for-inning for a vast majority of the afternoon; Fresno State's early three runs were the difference in that matchup as the host school won the first of consecutive head-to-head games by a 3-0 margin.

UC Davis will end its weekend in Sunday afternoon's 2:30 p.m. tournament finale.

Ashley Lotoszynski's opened the top of the fourth inning with a double to left field, and scored the Aggies' first run of the day thanks to Maddie Rojas' single up the middle.

In the following frame, UC Davis turns that 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead, a scoring rally that started with back-to-back singles from Brianna Warner and Taylor Peters. With both advancing a base on Christa Castello's grounder to second, Lotoszynski drove in the Aggies' first run on a single to center.

Alexis Carney's two-out single allowed both Peters and Lotoszynski to score.

That 4-2 score remained untouched until Minnesota scored the first of its three runs in the bottom of the seventh on a single and double in back-to-back at bats. A fielder's choice later that inning allowed another Golden Gopher to score, even though that also doubled as the second out of the inning. But it was a single to center that allowed Minnesota to break that tie for good, when it scored the third run of the inning on the team's third hit of that frame.
