FRESNO, Calif. - Trailing 7-3 in the opening game of the Bulldog Classic at Margie Wright Field, Marissa Jauregui, Alex Sotomayor and Brianna Warner opened the bottom of the seventh inning with consecutive walks. But an inning-ending double play helped Idaho State escape a precarious situation to collect a 7-3 win.

After the Bengals scored the first run of the day in the top of the second inning, Ashley Lotoszynski hit her first home run of the season, a solo shot that cleared the fence in left center to tie the score at one apiece.

In the following inning, the Aggies took a 3-1 lead when an ISU throwing error allowed Jauregui and Sotomayor to score; each initially reached base on a leadoff walk and a throwing error.

When Idaho State returned to the plate in the top of the fourth, it scored four runs, on four hits, to take the lead for good.

In UC Davis' second game, an error from Minnesota's first baseman allowed Sotomayor to reach base safely; after advancing to second on a single from Warner, and reaching third on Taylor Peters' sacrifice bunt, Christa Castello drove her home on a ground out to second.

At that time, the Aggies' run trimmed their deficit to a 6-1 score. By scoring three runs in the top of the fourth and another in the fifth, UC Davis fell to the nationally ranked Golden Gophers by a 10-1 result in five innings.

UC Davis will return to Fresno State Saturday afternoon to face Minnesota once again and play the first of back-to-back games against the tournament's host. First pitch for each game is slated for 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
