DAVIS, Calif. -- School may be out for the summer, but the education continues on the diamond for nearly two dozen UC Davis baseball players as the Aggies pack their bags for destinations across the country for summer league baseball assignments.

In all, 22 players will be spread out across nine different leagues this summer, highlighted by redshirt sophomore-to-be Robert Garcia, who picked up an assignment with the Wareham Gatemen of the prestigious Cape Cod League. Garcia is believed to be only the fifth UC Davis baseball player to be invited to play in the Cape Cod League during the program's Division I Era, and the first since Tino Lipson and Nick Lynch played for Wareham and the Brewster Whitecaps, respectively, in 2013. Scott Lyman (Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox) in 2009 and Ty Kelly (Brewster) in 2008 are the other two Aggies to make their way East.
