DAVIS, Calif. -- The UC Davis men's tennis team posted its second straight shutout and its seventh of the season overall, as the No. 65 Aggies swept past visiting UC Riverside, 7-0, for its 12th consecutive victory on Saturday afternoon at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.

UC Davis improved to 15-3 overall and 2-0 in Big West Conference play, posting its fifth shutout in its last six matches and winning its fifth straight over the Highlanders. UCR fell to 12-11 overall and 1-2 in league play.

The win put the Aggies just one win shy of their Division I Era record 16 victories set last season (16-6 overall) and ran its home winning streak to 18 consecutive contests dating back to the spring of 2014.

After surrendering just one game in taking the doubles point, UC Davis swept through singles to complete the victory, winning its first three matches in straight sets to clinch the victory. Junior Bryce McKelvie ran his personal winning streak to 16 consecutive matches with a 6-4, 6-0, win over Sean Robles at No. 4, junior Jesse Ross added a 6-2, 6-4, win over Anderson Ju at No. 6, and Alec Adamson clinched the win with a 7-6, 6-1, triumph over Sean Yun at No. 2.

The Aggies then rebounded from first set losses in the final three singles contests to complete the sweep, as junior James Wade remained undefeated (7-0) at No. 1 this season with a 4-6, 6-4, 1-0, win over Julian Ruffin, and sophomore Everett Maltby bounced back to defeat Calvin Ngo, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.

Senior Brett Bacharach then clinched his 11th straight win, posting a 2-6, 7-6, 6-1, triumph over Kyle McCann to complete the sweep.

UC Davis returns to the courts with a busy week against a trio of nationally ranked opponents on the road next week, opening with a match at No. 16 California on Wednesday (April 13) at 3 p.m. in Berkeley, Calif. The Aggies then head a little further south to take on Central Coast rivals No. 49 UC Santa Barbara on Friday (April 15) and No. 73 Cal Poly on Saturday (April 16).
