SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Cal Poly's Josh Ortlip held off a late third-set charge by UC Davis' Bryce McKelvie at No. 4 singles, posting a three-set victory to help lift the No. 65 Mustangs to a 4-3 win over the No. 69 Aggies on Saturday afternoon at the Mustang Tennis Courts in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

After winning 12 straight, UC Davis fell in its third straight contest -- all against nationally ranked opposition -- to move to 15-6 overall and 2-2 in the Big West Conference. Cal Poly improved to 13-8 overall with its fifth consecutive victory and remained undefeated in league play at 4-0.

Sophomore Tommy Lam rebounded from a first set loss to post a, 0-6, 6-3, 6-4, win over Sreyas Kolachalam at the No. 6 position in the lineup to draw the Aggies even at 3-3 overall in the match, sending the deciding point to the No. 4 spot where Ortlip and McKelvie slugged it out.

The UC Davis junior bounced back with a 6-3 win in the second set to tie the match after his opponent opened with a 6-1 victory. Ortlip had match point at 5-3 in the third before McKelvie won the next point to close to within one, but the Mustangs' freshman proved too tough, pulling out a 6-4 win in the final set to clinch the win.

Sophomore Everett Maltby took home a singles win at the No. 5 spot in the lineup, defeating Axel Damiens in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, while the Aggies posted their other point in doubles, taking home wins at No. 1 and No. 3 to jump out to the early lead.

The duo of Adamson and Adam Levie defeated Ben Donovan and Corey Pang, 6-4, at the top spot while Lam and McKelvie improved to 15-2 overall and 8-1 in duals together this season with a 6-1 win over Karl Enander and Dan Cardiff.

UC Davis looks to close out the regular season on a high note with its home finale next Saturday (April 23) at 11 a.m., honoring its seniors prior to a dual against UC Irvine at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.
