LONG BEACH, Calif. - A busy day for women's tennis kicked off Saturday morning at the Rhodes Tennis Center in Long Beach, Calif., when UC Davis faced the defending Big West Conference champions in the first of two league matches taking place on Saturday, March 5.

The 49ers took the first two doubles matches, and then collected victories in the first two singles matchups to defeat the Aggies, 4-0.

In its second match of the day, UC Davis swept all three doubles matchups, and then followed that stellar effort by winning all six singles matches to record a 7-0 shutout at UC Riverside.

This event was originally slated to take place on Sunday, March 6, but the threat of inclement weather in Southern California forced this match to take place one day earlier.

With the victory, UC Davis will return home with a 5-8 overall and 2-3 Big West record.

Kristy Jorgensen, Kamila Kecki, Tiffany Pham, Lani-Rae Green and Jessie Lee all recorded individual sweeps for the Aggies against the Highlanders.

Even though Green dropped the first set of her singles match at position No. 1, she battled back and won the final two sets, 6-4, 10-8 to cap UC Davis' perfect afternoon in the Inland Empire.

Jorgensen also needed three sets to collect her singles win; after winning the first set, 6-1, Tracy Van took the second set by a 6-4 score. In the third, and decisive frame, Jorgensen stepped up and posted a 6-1 set win to complete her individual sweep.

In the other four singles contests, Lee easily defeated Karla Dulay, 6-2, 6-1; Pham earned a 6-0, 6-1, straight sets win over Natalie Penner; Kecki posted matching 6-3 set scores against Arabella Valera; Martino dropped only one game to Sophie El-Kara en route to a 6-0, 6-1 triumph.

Once UC Davis returns home, its final eight matches of the season, starting with a dual on March 22 vs. Eastern Washington, will take place at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.
