March 19, 2016 ATLANTA -- UC Davis junior Hilvy Cheung set a school record during the prelims of the 200 fly on Saturday morning, narrowly missing out on a second swim in the event, closing out her stay at the 2016 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the McAuley Aquatic Center on the campus of Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
After finishing 31st in the 100 fly on Friday, Cheung touched in a time of 1:56.07 in the prelims of the 200 fly, finishing 17th overall -- just two-tenths out of a spot in the final 16.
The time broke her own school record of 1:56.14 set as a freshman in 2014 at the Mizzou Invitational and shaved nearly half a second off her season-best time of 1:56.52 set at this year's Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships.
Louisville's Kelsi Worrell set a championships record of 1:50.61 to earn the top time in the preliminary rounds by almost two seconds over Stanford's Ella Eastin.
