DAVIS, Calif. -- The UC Davis men's tennis made it two straight to open the homestand and three in a row overall on Saturday after the No. 57 Aggies handed No. 72 San Francisco a 6-1 defeat at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.

UC Davis improved to 6-3 overall, clinching its first-ever win over the Dons at the Division I level in nine tries and ended a 13-match losing skid to USF according to records that date back to the 1996-97 season. The Dons fell to 1-6 overall, losing their fifth straight.

For the second straight contest, and the fifth time overall this season, the Aggies opened with a doubles point win, posting identical 6-2 victories at No. 2 and No. 3 for the 1-0 lead.

San Francisco rallied with a quick win at No. 5 singles to tie the match before UC Davis rallied to clinch the win. Straight set wins by Brett Bacharach at No. 3, Tommy Lam at No. 6, and James Wade at No. 2, clinched the match for the Aggies, who got three-set victories by Bryce McKelvie at No. 4 and Alec Adamson at No. 1 to round out the day.

McKelvie finished off his team-best seventh-straight win with a 5-7, 7-6, 10-3 victory over Ryan Marker, while Adamson posted back-to-back wins with a 6-4, 6-7, 11-9, triumph over Nils Skajaa. Lam's win improved the sophomore to 5-0 in dual singles this season after entering the year with only one dual match appearance in his career.

The Aggies close out the weekend with a doubleheader on Sunday (Feb. 7) beginning at 9:30 a.m., as UC Davis hosts Holy Names and Sonoma State. Please note the change from the originally scheduled time of 10 a.m.
