MORAGA, Calif. - Four UC Davis players advanced to Saturday's Round of 16 in singles play, Kristina Breisacher and Isabella von Ebbe won two doubles matches to claim a spot in their flight's semifinal and will compete for a chance to play in Sunday's championship match when action resumes on Saturday at the Saint Mary's Fall Invitational.

Two rounds of singles and one round of doubles matches comprised Friday's schedule at the Timothy Korth Tennis Center; Saturday's slate will follow a similar format with all championship matches, in addition to semifinal singles contests, taking place on Sunday.

In her A Flight Round of 32 match, Jesse Lee battled back from a set down and outlasted Marine Dans (San José State) 3-6, 6-4, 7-5. With that win, Lee will square off against No. 6 Anna Sokiran (San Francisco) at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The winner of that matchup will experience a brief turnaround since her quarterfinal will start at 2 p.m.

Led by Nikita Pradeep, the other flight's top singles seed, three Aggies will continue their run in Moraga tomorrow morning in their respective Round of 16 match. Pradeep will face Amber Del Rosario (San Francisco) while Kamila Kecki drew Claire Bouquet (Cal Poly) as her next opponent. Both of those contests will begin at 10:30 a.m.

One hour later, Samantha Martino, will face Stanford's Elizabeth Yao in her Round of 16 matchup.

If Pradeep and Kecki each run the table on Saturday, an all-Aggie matchup will take place in Sunday's 10:30 a.m. semifinal. Since Martino is competing on the opposite side of that same bracket, the championship match is her only chance (if she wins both Saturday events) to participate in an all-UC Davis contest.

Both Kecki and Martino advanced by collecting straight set victories against Carolina Chernyetsky (Sacramento State) and Celine Gruaz (Cal Poly); respective match scores were 6-3, 6-4 and 6-3, 6-2. Kecki and Pradeep's respective quarterfinal, if victorious in their first singles match, will take place at 2 p.m. With a win, Martino will start her last singles match 30 minutes later.

As the No. 1 seed, Pradeep advanced to the Round of 16 on a bye.

Breisacher's day was a successful one since she and von Ebbe collected the Aggies' only doubles wins on the day. The two dominated both matches played: after topping Sarina Chhabra - Jiayu Mu (San Francisco) 8-1, the pair recorded an 8-0 shutout versus Giannini Ong - Caraline Patterson (Santa Clara). Breisacher - von Ebbe will battle Tamara Culibrk - Diane Flament (San José State) at 9 a.m. for one of two spots in Sunday's championship.

At the time of this release, tournament officials did not indicate if consolation matches would take place in any of the four flights.
