2016 ITA Northwest Regional Results & Draws

BURLINGAME, Calif. -- The ninth-seeded UC Davis doubles tandem of freshman David Goulak and junior Tommy Lam reached the semifinals of the main draw before their run came to an end at the Broadway Tennis Center in Burlingame, Calif., as the Aggies' closed out their stay at the ITA Northwest Regionals on a rainy Sunday night in the Bay Area.

The duo finished the tournament with a 3-1 record, including wins over a pair of higher-seeded teams, moving indoors once again after rain washed out the matches at the Hellman Tennis Complex in Berkeley, Calif. The UC Davis pair opened their Sunday with an upset of the sixth-seeded tandem of Euan McIntosh and Youssef Hassan, 8-6, punching their ticket to the semis to take on Stanford's Sameer Kumar and Yale Goldberg.

Kumar and Goldberg, who eliminated another UC Davis pairing earlier in the bracket, advanced to Monday's final, however, with an 8-5 triumph over Goulak and Lam.

Sunday marked the third time in four years that an Aggie doubles team had gained the semifinals at an ITA Regional, and the first since Alec Adamson and partner Adam Levie did so during the fall of 2014 at Stanford's Taube Family Tennis Stadium. Adamson and Levie also advanced to the semifinals in 2013 at Saint Mary's.

UC Davis has one more fall event before breaking until the spring, competing at the Gael Invitational hosted by Saint Mary's on Oct. 28-30, in Moraga, Calif. The Aggies the open the spring portion of their schedule on Jan. 14, 2017, traveling to Stockton, Calif., to take on Pacific and Fresno State in a doubleheader at 8:30 a.m.
