BERKELEY, Calif. - First-year Aggies Kristina Breisacher and Nikita Pradeep each collected the first singles victories of their respective careers, four Aggies recorded consolation victories and another two earned an individual sweep during the first day of action in Berkeley, California, at the Cal Nike Fall Invitational.

In the White Flight, Samantha Martino topped Santa Clara's Giannina Ong, 6-1, 6-4, while Breisacher recorded a 6-3, 6-2, Round of 32 victory of her own against Sacramento State's Luisa Brunetti.

Both Aggies punched their tickets to the main draw quarterfinals by collecting victories in the final matches of the day. Breisacher breezed past Santa Clara's Caraline Patterson, 6-3, 6-2, while her teammate faced a bit of a challenge before advancing.

Martino fell in the first set, 6-0, but bounced back with a clutch performance in the following frame by winning the second-set tiebreaker by a 7-3 margin. In the final set, it was the senior Aggie who pulled through with a 6-4 set score.

Breisacher will now face Nevada's Carlijn Ketting, the flight's No. 2 seed, in Saturday's 1:15 quarterfinal; Martino drew San Francisco's Amber Del Rosario as her next opponent. Martino's match will begin at 11:45 a.m.; both singles contests will take place at the Channing Tennis Courts.

In the Gold Flight, Isabella von Ebbe and Pradeep ended their day with straight-set wins over Sacramento State's Anna Nau and Fresno State's Georgia Lawson. The former won her match 6-2, 6-1, with the latter winning tiebreakers in both sets to post a 7-6(4), 7-6(2) result.

Blue Flight singles action saw Lani-Rae Green secure a 6-3, 6-4, win in her first round consolation matchup with BYU's Polina Malykh. Kamila Kecki advanced in the White Flight's consolation bracket thanks to a three-set 7-5, 5-7, 1-0(9), victory versus Pacific's Sabrina Rodriguez.
