DAVIS, Calif. - What started at 9 p.m. Friday night did not end until early Saturday morning since rain forced UC Davis to move its spring home opener from the Marya Welch Tennis Center, its true home facility, to the Spare Time Indoor Tennis Center in Gold River, Calif. The Aggies handled this last-minute change of environment like professionals and won four of five singles matchup to defeat the Portland State Vikings, 4-2.

UC Davis will now face a quick turnaround since less than 12 hours will take place between its late night victory and Saturday's scheduled home dual against Santa Clara. First serve will take place on campus at 1 p.m.

The Aggies' victory, their sixth straight against Portland State, pushed its overall record to 2-0; Portland State will now face Sacramento State, in its first league dual of the year, with a 0-1 record.

Even though PSU won the doubles point - Alex Huie and Tiffany Pham were the only Aggies to win a match that round, and did so with a 6-2 result - UC Davis simply dominated the singles round by recording four straight-set victories vs. the Vikings.

After Frederique Sleiffer raced to a 6-2, 6-3, victory over Sabina-Elena Preda, Kristy Jorgensen soon joined her teammate on the sidelined after defeating PSU's top singles player, Dane Vorster, 7-5, 6-3.

With that win, Jorgensen tied the overall team score at 2-2.

Thanks to her 6-4, 6-3 result, Isabella von Ebbe snapped that tie to give the Aggies the lead for good; Jessie Lee's 6-4, 6-1, victory brought the evening to an end by posting UC Davis' fourth team point.
