SAN FRANCISCO -- UC Davis junior Alec Adamson's roll at the seventh-annual Battle in the Bay Classic continued on Sunday, taking home a straight-set semifinal victory before falling to the tournament's top seed in the championship match to close out the Aggies stay in San Francisco.

Adamson eliminated three of tournament's top seeds en route to the championship, dispatching the No. 2-seeded Uros Petronijevic of San Diego in the opening round and eighth-seeded Kalman Boyd of USC in the quarterfinals leading up to Sunday's semifinal clash with another Torero, seventh-seeded Jordan Angus.

The Corona Del Mar, California, native wasted no time in punching his ticket to the championship, quickly downing Angus in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, and setting up a meeting with California's Andre Goransson in the title match. Goransson, who is ranked No. 25 in the ITA's preseason poll and made up half of the tournament's doubles title-winning squad, was making his third straight appearance in the main draw singles championship and clinched his second crown with a 6-4, 7-5, win over Adamson.

It was the second finals appearance for Adamson at the event as the junior joined teammate Adam Levie in last year's main draw doubles championship before falling to a tandem from USC in the finals.

UC Davis now takes the week off before returning to the court for the 2015 Aggie Invitational on Oct. 2-4 at the Marya Welch Tennis Center on campus.
