Sept. 19, 2015 Complete Draws & Results
SAN FRANCISCO -- Following an upset of the No. 2-seeded player in the tournament in Friday's opening round, UC Davis junior Alec Adamson continued his roll at the 2015 Battle in the Bay Classic in San Francisco, dispatching a pair of Pac-12 opponents and punching his ticket into the main draw semifinals on Saturday afternoon at the California Tennis Club.
Adamson, who upset second-seeded Uros Petronijevic of San Diego in his first match, took down Stanford's Anthony Tsodikov in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, in the round of 16, before taking down No. 8-seeded Kalman Boyd of USC -- ranked among the nation's top recruits by the website TennisRecuiting.net -- in the quarterfinals in a tough three-set battle, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.
Those wins moved him into Sunday morning's semifinal match against another seeded opponent, pitting Adamson against the tournament's No. 7 seed in San Diego's Jordan Angus at 10 a.m. The winner meets either top-seeded Andre Goransson or his California teammate, fifth-seeded Filip Bergevi, in the championship match at 1 p.m.
In consolation action, junior James Wade bounced back from a first-round defeat on Friday to take down Pacific's Alex Giannini in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, but could not sustain the momentum, falling in a third-set super tiebreaker to Boise State's Kyle Butters, 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (7).
