DAVIS, Calif. - Layla Sanders, Frederique Sleiffer and Jessie Lee won their respective singles matches during Sunday's league contest at the Marya Welch Tennis Center against No. 73 UCSB, but the Gauchos left Davis with a narrow 4-3 victory by winning three singles events of their own.

UC Davis ends its weekend, and a four-match homestand, with a 5-9 overall and 3-4 Big West record. UC Santa Barbara will return to the Central Coast with a 6-6 overall and 1-0 league mark.

For just the second time in their last seven matches, UC Davis did not win the doubles point as it was the Gauchos that took a 1-0 advantage with them into singles play.

Sanders defeated UCSB's No. 1 player, Natalie DeSilveira, by a 6-4, 6-3 result to collect one of the Aggies' three singles victories.

At No. 6, Lee won her third singles match in a row after downing Luisa Ortiz Candido, also in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1.

Sleiffer, who has been unstoppable for the last month (literally), won her ninth matchup in a row when she defeated Stacy Yam, 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 1-0.

Women's tennis will now make its final road trip of the season this Saturday to Santa Clara, a match that was postponed due to rain earlier this season. First serve from the Degheri Tennis Center is set for 12 p.m.

Once the Aggies return to campus, the team's final seven matches of the season will take place on their own courts.
