DAVIS, Calif. -- UC Davis senior Samantha Shellem was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation/Turbo Female Athlete of the Week on Wednesday afternoon, after her two individual wins and medley relay victory helped the Aggies defeat Pacific in their regular season finale.

It is the second MPSF weekly honor this season for the senior and the fifth of Shellem's career, joining teammates Hilvy Cheung (twice) and Hilary Hunt as UC Davis honorees in 2014-15. The five awards by the Aggies are the most of any other MPSF school this season, as San Diego, BYU, Pacific, and UC Santa Barbara, have had two winners apiece.

The La Verne, California, native had a big day for UC Davis against the conference rival Tigers, winning both the 100 (51.73) and 200 (1:50.89) freestyle events and posting the quickest time in the 200 IM, touching in a time of 2:05.83 after the Aggies had put the meet out of reach.

She also added a win in UC Davis' victorious 200 medley relay, anchoring the squad with a split of 23.80, to help the Aggies finish the dual season with a 5-2 mark and extend its unbeaten streak against MPSF opponents in regular season duals to 12 with the win over Pacific.

With the regular season behind them, UC Davis now sets its sights on defending its MPSF championship in Southern California, beginning on Feb. 18 at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, California. The four-day MPSF Championships run through Feb. 21, with the diving portion of the competition held at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center in Pasadena, California.

The Aggies, who have claimed the MPSF title three times in four years, pulled away for their second consecutive crown in 2014, finishing with a total of 712.5 -- the third-highest total in the history of the championship -- to finish ahead of second-place UC Santa Barbara (638). UC Davis also won MPSF titles in 2011 and 2013.
