Feb. 21, 2015 MONTEREY PARK, Calif. -- UC Davis sophomore Hilvy Cheung clinched her second title of the championships with a win in the 200 fly, while Hilary Hunt added her third NCAA "B" mark of the weekend in the 200 back, helping the Aggies finish second at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, California.
Hawai'i, which led the championships wire-to-wire, finished with 747 points to win its first MPSF title, with UC Davis behind them with 632 points. UC Santa Barbara finished with 585.5 points to round out the top three.
A day after clinching her first MPSF crown with a pair of NCAA "B" times in the 100 fly on Friday, Cheung added the 200 fly crown with an NCAA "B" mark of the weekend, touching in a season-best time of 1:57.35. Senior Megan Leung posted the top time in the event during the prelims with a 2:01.30, and gave the Aggies two in the top five by finishing fourth (2:02.63).
Hunt, who finished second in the 100 fly on Friday, also with a pair of NCAA "B" qualifying times, duplicated her finish in the 200 fly on Saturday, touching in an NCAA "B" time of 1:58.56 to finish second, shaving more than four seconds off her previous season best time of 2:02.63 set against Nevada on Nov. 8.
The Aggies opened the day by placing a pair in the top five of the 1,650 free, as Marissa Brown touched third in a time of 16:46.25, while Lexy Troup finished fifth with a time of 17:01.25.
