STANFORD, Calif. - Ashley Lotoszynski's three-run home run with two outs in the sixth erased a two-run deficit to give UC Davis the lead, but host Stanford rallied for two runs in its half of the inning and then held off a late rally to edge the Aggies, 4-3, on Wednesday evening at Smith Family Stadium.

The loss dropped UC Davis to 4-8 on the year, as the Aggies take an extended break until they head to Southern California for the San Diego Classic I tournament, which begins on Feb. 27. The Cardinal improved to 8-4 with the win.

Lotoszynski's blast - the first of her career - came with two outs and her team trailing 2-0. Kelly Zboralske walked and moved all the way to third on a double to the gap in left center by Christina Guidry. That brought up the Pleasanton, California, native, who worked the count to her favor before launching a 3-1 pitch over the wall in left, giving the Aggies a 3-2 advantage.

Stanford rallied back with two runs in its half of the inning, however, to retake the lead - both runs coming with two outs, as well. Back-to-back doubles by Kayla Bonstrom and Cassandra Roulund off Justine Vela (0-1) put the Cardinal back in front, but the home team still had to hold off a last-gasp UC Davis rally in its last at-bat.

Madi Schreyer relieved starter Haley Snyder (6-4) in the seventh and struck out the first batter she faced to start the inning, but struggled with her control, walking Christa Castello, Alexis Carney, and Amy Nunez, consecutively to load the bases. Schreyer regained her command, however, getting a strikeout and a ground ball to the left side to end the game and nail down her first save of the year.

Guidry and Lotoszynski each finished with two hits for the Aggies, while four different Stanford hitters finished with two hits as part of an 11-hit attack.

UC Davis opens the San Diego Classic I tournament on Feb. 27 with back-to-back games against Iowa State and Grand Canyon beginning at 9 a.m.
