NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The pairings of Kristy Jorgensen / Layla Sanders and Kamila Kecki / Frederique Sleiffer won their respective doubles matches at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions to help UC Davis earn the doubles point in Sunday's Big West Conference match from the Matador Tennis Complex in Northridge, Calif. CSUN responded by winning four of six singles matches to down UC Davis by a 4-3 score.
UC Davis will enter Monday morning's match at UC Irvine, the last of three straight in as many days against Big West teams, with a 3-5 overall and 1-1 league record. CSUN pushed its record to 3-0 and 2-0 respectively.
When singles play started, CSUN recorded its first point before Tiffany Pham helped the Aggies regain their lead by winning at singles No. 3.
That advantage was short lived, however, because CSUN won the next three straight matchups by reaching the four-point threshold. Once that took place, Sleiffer's singles match came to an end.
The Matadors' Kristen Poei retired, trailing Sleiffer 1-0 in the third set after the Aggie sophomore rebounded after dropping the first frame, 6-1, by winning the second, 6-4.
UC Davis will return to action Monday morning with its 11 a.m. Big West match at UC Irvine.
