FRESNO, Calif. - Katie Robertson's two-out double to center drove in Kelly Zboralske, Christina Guidry and gave UC Davis the lead for good against Sacramento State in Friday's 6-2, Causeway Cup victory in the opening game of the Fresno State Kick-Off.
With that win, UC Davis secured its third straight win entering its final game of the day at Margie Wright Diamond, against RV/23 Cal.
Facing its fourth team that is ranked, or receiving votes in either national poll out of their first eight games of the season, the Aggies' win streak was stopped by Cal with its 13-0, five-inning win over UC Davis.
The Aggies will enter Saturday's 9 a.m. rematch against Cal with a 3-5 overall record before facing tournament host Fresno State at 1:30 p.m.

In Friday's rivalry game, UC Davis scored two quick runs beginning with Kelly Zboralske's bases loaded hit-by-pitch. When Ashley Lotoszynski, the very next batter stepped to the plate, she quickly exited the batter's box shortly thereafter to waive Amy Nunez home after Sacramento State recorded the first of its four errors on a passed ball.
Trailing 2-0 after the Aggies took their swings in the top of the second, the Hornets cut their deficit in half when Makenzie Wayandande scored on Shelby Johnston's triple down the left field line.
Wayandande entered as a pinch runner for Alexis Martinez who led off the inning with a walk.
Johnston scored shortly thereafter on Paris Prado's sacrifice fly to left field in what was Sacramento State's final highlight of the game.
Robertson's game-winning double took place the very next inning, allowing Guidry and Zboralske, who reached base on a hit-by-pitch and walk respectively, to score. Once both touched the dish, the Aggies' lead returned to its previous two-run margin.
That cushion doubled in the top of the fourth when Christa Castello and Alexis Carney took full advantage of two Hornets miscues. After reaching base on a leadoff walk and single through the middle of the infield, the pair scored when Sacramento State reliever Kaitlyn Yerby threw a wild pitch, followed by an error committed by Prado, the team's catcher.
Armed with a four-run advantage, Leah Munden entered the game for UC Davis starter Justine Vela and, like her teammate, allowed just two hits throughout her time in the circle.
By virtue of her four-inning appearance, Munden picked up her second win in as many games.
In the back half of the morning's doubleheader, Carney reached base safely in both of her plate appearances and was responsible for half of UC Davis' four hits against Cal.
Carney earned her first hit during the first inning on a single to right field before starting the bottom of the fourth with a double to center.
The Aggies recorded their other two hits in the fifth inning on singles to right field and second base from Lauryn Saunders and Brianna Warner.
Cal scored its first five runs in the third inning, then followed with another eight in the very next frame to pull away and record a run-rule win.
