Hewitt, Henn sign NLIs with UC Davis basketball

Nov. 12, 2015

DAVIS, Calif. - Peter Hewitt and Mike Henn signed a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period as announced by head coach Jim Les on Thursday. Both will begin their academic and athletic careers at UC Davis next summer.

Ranked No. 40 in the nation among all senior power forwards by ESPN, Hewitt, who measures at 6-foot-10, is the primary reason why Saint Francis High School (Mountain View) has enjoyed sustained success throughout the last three years.

During his freshman season, Hewitt led all players with his 8.2 rebounds per game average, and helped his team post a 19-3 record. Saint Francis reached the semifinals of the NorCal Championships and capped its season with a Central Coast Section title.

Last year, the Lancers posted a 20-4 overall mark, captured a West Coast Athletic League crown, recorded a top eight finish in the NorCal Championship's open division and finished second at sectionals.

The three-year team captain ended his junior year by receiving all-league accolades and an invitation to compete in the Prep2Prep California All-Star Classic last August.

Henn, a 6-foot-8 power forward helped Bellevue High School win 17 games and advance to the district playoffs as a freshman. In each of the following two seasons, Henn's teams posted matching 24-5 overall and undefeated league records, won back-to-back KingCo Conference championships and experienced deep postseason runs.

By finishing in sixth and third place at the Washington High School State Basketball Playoffs the last two seasons, local pundits expect BHS to make another strong playoff push during Henn's senior year.

As a junior, Henn averaged 12.2 points per game and received All-KingCo Conference honors for the second straight season.

After receiving honorable mention as a sophomore, the league selected him to its second team last spring.

UC Davis basketball, a team that has won its last 14 consecutive games inside the Pavilion, will look to extend the 14th-longest active home win streak in the nation in Friday's season opener versus North Dakota State.

Tipoff will take place inside the Pavilion at 5:30 p.m.; fans are encouraged to arrive at least 20 minutes early for the Aggies' pregame championship banner unveiling ceremony.
