Nov. 1, 2015 STOCKTON, Calif. -- UC Davis junior Eli Whittle claimed the Flight "B" consolation singles title and teamed up with Jesse Ross for the flight's main draw doubles crown, closing out the Aggies' fall schedule at the Pacific Tiger Invitational on Sunday morning at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts in Stockton, Calif.
The second-seeded duo of Whittle and Ross opened the day by claiming the main draw title in Flight "B" doubles, defeating Pacific's Lance Ngo and Bernardo Oliveira, 6-3. Whittle, the top-seeded singles player in the flight, then took the court by himself to face-off against Ngo, handing the Tigers' junior a 6-2, 6-3, defeat.
Pacific was able to turn the tables on the Aggies in two other finals on Sunday as top-seeded Sem Verbeek defeated Bryce McKelvie, 6-2, 6-0, in the Flight "A" singles championship, and teamed up with Kumara Adavelly to defeat McKelvie and Tommy Lam in the Flight "A" doubles championship, 6-3.
UC Davis now breaks until the start of its spring schedule, returning to the court on Jan. 13 to take on Stanford at 3 p.m. at the Taube Family Tennis Center.
