LONG BEACH, Calif. - Even though Long Beach State scored the first goal of Thursday's Big West match in the 39th minute, the Aggies remained within striking distance by generating numerous odd-man rushes towards the 49ers' net as the night progressed.

UC Davis dominated possession throughout the entire evening; its defense also forced LBSU to adjust its formations midway though the game. However, another Long Beach State goal scored in the 61st minute created a deficit UC Davis was unable to erase as the 49ers left George Allen Field with a 2-0 victory.

UC Davis will enter Sunday's season finale at UC Irvine with a 9-7-2 overall and 2-4-1 Big West mark. Since Thursday night's matchup was the last of the season for Long Beach State, it will enter next week's conference tournament with records of 11-5-3 and 6-2.

With the loss, the Aggies have been eliminated from playoff consideration and will play their final game of the year at UC Irvine in two days.

Led by Mckenna Moriarty's with two apiece, UC Davis recorded five shots and three shots on goal. Haley Hughes' lone attempt was on goal; Andi Damian and Sienna Drizin recorded the Aggies' remaining shots.

UC Davis goalkeeper Alexis Smith ended her evening with two saves.
