Oct. 24, 2015 SEATTLE -- A spirited run through the main draw at the USTA/ITA Northwest Regionals came to an end on Saturday for the UC Davis men's tennis team as the Aggies fell in their final matches at the Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle.
Running into the round of 32, both junior Alec Adamson and senior Brett Bacharach suffered losses to Pacific-12 Conference opponents. Adamson opened with a 6-3 win in the first set of his match against Stanford's Nolan Paige, but could not close out the Cardinal senior, falling 6-0, 6-4, as Paige advanced.
Riding back-to-back wins, Bacharach had the toughest task of the day, facing off against California's Florian Lakat -- the No. 36-ranked player in the nation. Lakat took home a 6-4, 7-5, victory en route to a berth in the Sunday's quarterfinals.
Following an undefeated Friday in doubles, the three remaining Aggie tandems were eliminated in the round of 16 on Saturday, including a battle with the No. 58 team in the country as sophomore Everett Maltby and junior Bryce McKelvie fell to San Francisco's Nils Skajaa and Vasco Valverde, 8-3.
The remaining two Aggie duos were ousted by Pac-12 opponents as Adamson and James Wade fell to California's Filip Bergevi and JT Nishimura, 8-3, while Bacharach and Adam Levie were edged out by Oregon's Jayson Amos and Armando Soemarno, 8-6.
UC Davis closes out its fall schedule next weekend, making the short trek down Highway 99 to take part in the three-day Pacific Tiger Invitational in Stockton, Calif., on Oct. 30-Nov. 1.
