PORTLAND - Even though Portland picked up the doubles point in Sunday's non-conference match from the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center, UC Davis battled back in the singles round to pick up three victories. By winning three matches in that same round, the host Pilots and Aggies split the six matchups; that doubles point was the difference as UC Davis fell 4-3, in the team's fourth consecutive road contest.

UC Davis will return home with a 2-2 record and end its season-opening, five-match road trip on Friday, at Sacramento State in this year's Causeway clash. UC Davis has won the last two head-to-head meetings by a 4-3 score and will seek its second road win over the Hornets in the last three years later this week.

As was the case the previous day at Portland State, Portland also started its dual slate against UC Davis. The Pilots open its season with a 1-0 overall record.

Less than 24 hours after earning a three-set, come-from-behind victory in her singles match at Portland State, freshman Lani-Rae Green played like anything but in her matchup against Pilots' sophomore Jelena Lazarevic.

After winning the first set, 7-5, Green slipped in the following frame - one that Lazarevic took by a 6-1 score. Undaunted, the Aggie freshman battled back in the third and won her second three-set match in as many days by topping Lazarevic, 7-5.

Green's teammates, Jessie Lee and Kristy Jorgensen also earned team points for UC Davis with their straight-set wins.

Lee downed Saroop Dhatt, 6-4, 7-5 before Jorgensen wrapped up singles action by defeating Tori Troesch, 6-4, 6-2.

In exhibition action, Kamila Kecki won the first set, 6-3, and was trailing 0-1 when action was halted. Tied at one apiece, Samantha Martino's singles match versus Marina Reimers also ended prematurely.
