LOS ANGELES -- The UC Davis men's tennis team completed a sweep of its Southern California swing on Saturday morning, winning the doubles point and claiming three straight-set wins in singles en route to a 5-2 victory over Grand Canyon at the LMU Tennis Center.

The Aggies won back-to-back matches for the first time this season, improving to 3-2 overall on the year. The Antelopes opened their season with a loss and were scheduled to face Loyola Marymount later in the day in the second half of a doubleheader.

"This was a good win after Friday night's tough battle against LMU," Head Coach Eric Steidlmayer said. "To come back today and produce is a great step forward. This was a great road trip for the Aggies."

UC Davis opened by sweeping through the three doubles matches in order with 6-4 wins at both No. 1 and No. 3, and a 6-3 victory at the No. 2 spot for a 1-0 lead in the match.

The Aggies continued to roll with wins in four of the six singles contests -- three in straight sets. Sophomore Bryce McKelvie, whose three-set marathon victory against the Lions the day before clinched a 4-3 win over LMU, had a significantly easier time on Saturday, dispatching Adrian Legarreta, 6-3, 6-2.

Alec Adamson eased past Mitch Maroscher, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 1 spot, while newcomers Jesse Ross and Eli Whittle joined him in the win column at No. 4 and No. 5 -- including a rally by Whittle, who bounced back from a 6-3 loss in the opening set against Philip Kuehnen, to post a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, win. Ross produced the match clincher with a 6-0, 6-4, win over Alexander Boggenkamp.

UC Davis closes out its four-match road swing next Saturday (Jan. 31) at Noon, taking on No. 57 Santa Clara.
