DAVIS, Calif. -- Host UC Davis won five of the six singles contests on the day, rebounding from an early hole to rally for a 5-2 men's tennis victory over visiting Pacific in the Aggies home opener on Saturday afternoon at the Marya Welch Tennis Center on campus.

Four of the six singles wins for UC Davis came in straight sets as the Aggies evened their season mark at 1-1 overall on the season heading into Monday's clash with No. 15 California, snapping a four-match losing streak to the Tigers dating back to 2010 and clinching only the fourth win over Pacific dating back to the 1996-97 campaign.

The Tigers fell to 0-1 on the year following their season opener.

Pacific jumped out to the early lead after claiming a hotly contested doubles point, winning at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions by the scores of 7-5 and 7-6, respectively. The UC Davis duo of Brett Bacharach and Eli Whittle posted a win at the No. 2 spot, 6-2, over Marlon Brand and Ashwin Sharma.

The match then moved to singles, where the Aggies dominated, posting straight-set wins at the Nos. 1, 3, 5, and 6, spots en route to the win. Sophomore James Wade, who posted the lone UC Davis victory earlier in the week against nationally ranked Stanford, went three sets against the Tigers' Miguel Diaz, pulling out a three-set, 7-5, 3-6, 10-3, win.

Sophomore Bryce McKelvie also had a battle on his hands, jumping out to a quick lead with a 6-3 win in the first set, but saw as Jose Chamba rallied for wins of 6-2, 6-1, in the following two sets to claim the match.

Newcomers Everett Maltby and Jesse Ross posted their first wins as Aggies at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots. Maltby defeated Eric Spence, 6-3, 6-4, while Ross, a transfer from Santa Clara, dispatched Bernardo Oliveira, 6-2, 6-3.

Alec Adamson took home his first win at the No. 1 spot this season with a 6-3, 6-3, victory over Sem Verbeek, while Bacharach handed Alex Hamilton a 7-6, 6-0, win at No. 3.
