Aggies add contests to already strong schedule

Sept. 23, 2014

DAVIS, Calif. -- With the start of the 2014-15 men's tennis season just around the corner, UC Davis head coach Eric Steidlmayer has announced the addition of four more dual contests to his spring schedule.

Already playing four of their first five spring contests on the road, the Aggies have added a contest against Grand Canyon University on Jan. 24, battling the Antelopes at 10 a.m. on a neutral court at Loyola Marymount.

UC Davis adjusted its home schedule for a doubleheader on Feb. 8, welcoming Sonoma State at 9 a.m., and pushing back the start time for its match against Nevada a half hour to 1:30 p.m.

The two other additions are also neutral site contests as duals against Rice and Villanova are scheduled for March 5 and 8, respectively, during the Aggies' trip to Southern California for the 126th Annual Pacific Coast Men's Doubles Championships at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club.

UC Davis opens the fall portion of its schedule next weekend, hosting the three-day Aggie Invitational at the Marya Welch Tennis Center. The event, which is the first of four fall tournaments for the Aggies to kick-off the season, opens on Friday (Oct. 3) and runs through Sunday (Oct. 5).
