MORAGA, Calif. - Inclement weather that cancelled the first day of the Saint Mary's Gaels Classic on Friday couldn't rain on the UC Davis men's tennis team's parade into quarterfinal rounds after Saturday's opening day of competition in Moraga.

James Wade, Alec Adamson, Everett Maltby and Bryce McKelvie each won two matches to advance into Sunday's quarters in Flight A while Tommy Lam and Eli Whittle and Jesse Ross did the same in Flight B.

All of the Aggies' singles' competitors won first-round matches with only Brett Bacharach in Flight A and Adam Levie in Flight B falling in the second round.

Ross and Wade teamed up for a win over Saint Mary's Matthew Campana and Alex Wagner in the Flight B doubles quarterfinals after having a bye and advanced to Sunday's semifinals. Adamson and McKelvie won their opening match in the Flight A doubles division but then fell in the quarterfinals. The two other UC Davis teams in the flight - Lam-Maltby and Brett Bacharach-Adam Levie - each dropped their opening-round matches.

McKelvie was the only Aggie to win both his singles matches in straight sets in Flight A, beating Denver's Aidan Talcott, 6-3, 6-0, and then Thomas Hunt of Saint Mary's, 7-6 (8), 7-5. Wade, Adamson and Maltby were each extended to tiebreaker sets in one of their matches but all moved to the next round. Lam won his two matches in straight sets in Flight B while Ross and Whittle came back from being down a set in first-rounders in Flight B to move on.

Wade will face top-seeded Oskar Wikberg of California, Adamson - seeded fourth - will take on Cal Poly's Devin Barber, Maltby faces third-seeded Dioga Rocha of Denver and McKelvie will play second-seeded Mads Engsted of Cal.

Lam will square off against Wyatt Houghton of Cal in his quarterfinal matchup in Flight B of Sunday. Houghton, who had a first-round bye, is the top seed. Whittle will face Deric Wanland of Sacramento State while Ross takes on Christian Brocksteldt of San Francisco.

Ross and Wade will play in Sunday's semis in the Flight B of doubles, beginning at 9 a.m.

The tournament concludes on Sunday.
