• Aggie Fall Invitational Draws & Results

DAVIS, Calif. -- UC Davis freshman Everett Maltby and sophomore Bryce McKelvie each won their respective quarterfinal contests to highlight the Aggies' efforts on day two of the Aggie Fall Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.

The wins set up a Sunday morning semifinal clash in Flight B singles between the teammates at 10 a.m., while Nevada's Robert Margitfalvi and teammate Robert Allan will meet in the other semifinal. The championship match will be held at 1 p.m.

Both Aggies posted straight-set victories on Saturday, as the fourth-seeded McKelvie defeated Pacific's Bernardo Oliveria, 6-3, 6-3, while Maltby handed Saint Mary's Sam Bloore a, 6-3, 6-0, loss.

In other singles action, sophomore Alec Adamson fell to Sacramento State's Sean Kolar in a marathon three-set battle, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3, in the Flight A quarterfinals. Sophomore Jesse Ross also fell in his Flight B quarterfinal bout against the Wolf Pack's Allan, 6-4, 6-3.

On the doubles side, the UC Davis teams of Adamson and Tommy Lam, along with Maltby and Ross, posted quarterfinal victories, but were eliminated in the semifinals.

Another head-to-head Aggie match-up will occur in the consolation bracket as both Brett Bacharach and James Wade won their matches on Saturday and will meet in the Flight A consolation semifinals at 10 a.m. on Sunday. The winner will face either California's Pastor Hasier -- the top seed in the flight to start the tournament -- or Pacific's Miguel Diaz in the championship at 1 p.m.

In the Flight B consolation bracket, junior Adam Levie defeated a pair of opponents from Sacramento State to advance to Sunday's semifinals, where he will face Pacific's Ashwin Sharma.

The Flight A doubles consolation championship match will feature the UC Davis tandem of Bacharach and Wade, who teamed up to win a pair of matches and will face top-seeded Mads Engsted and JT Nishimura of California at 8:30 a.m.
