DAVIS, Calif. -- UC Davis freshman Everett Maltby claimed the Flight C singles title and three doubles pairings also won championships, closing out the second fall weekend for the Aggies at the UCSB Classic and Battle in the Bay tournament on Sunday in Santa Barbara and San Francisco, California, respectively.

Maltby, who finished 3-1 at last weekend's Aggie Fall Invitational, breezed through his respective singles bracket this weekend on the Central Coast, winning all four of his Flight C matches in straight sets, including the clincher over Fresno State's Youssef Hassan, 6-3, 6-2, to improve to 7-1 overall on the year. Maltby added another title in the Flight A doubles competition with teammate Brett Bacharach, clinching the consolation championship by default over Loyola Marymount's Felix Van Kann and Jamie Thorp.

Two other doubles squads claimed titles in Santa Barbara, as sophomore Jesse Ross and freshman Tommy Lam defeated Grand Canyon's Arjun Bal and Meidy Chazeau in the Flight C doubles championship by the score of 8-4, while Bryce McKelvie and James Wade added the consolation title in Flight B with a win over Cal Poly's Devin Barber and Tim Tan, 8-2.

Both McKelvie (Flight B main draw) and Lam (Flight C consolation) reached the singles championship in their brackets, but were denied additional titles by UC Santa Barbara's Cody Rakela and the Antelopes' Chazeau, respectively, while Bacharach fell in Flight B's third-place match to the Gauchos' Erik Johnsson, whom McKelvie had eliminated in their semifinal clash.

Meanwhile, in San Francisco, the doubles duo of Alec Adamson and Adam Levie had stormed to the main draw doubles finals at the prestigious Battle in the Bay tournament, posting wins over a pair of Pacific-12 Conference and West Coast Conference opponents en route to Sunday's championship match, but the Aggies' run would end there. USC's Nick Crystal and Connor Farren, who upset the No. 1-seeded team in the quarterfinals and the No. 3 team in the semifinals, held off the hard-charging UC Davis duo for an 8-6 victory.

It was a solid weekend for Adamson and Levie, who were late additions to the field in San Francisco. The Aggie tandem upset the No. 4 seed from California in the round of 16 and took out the Pacific team that had upset the No. 2-seeded pairing from the University of San Francisco in the tournament.

With two solid weekends of play behind them, UC Davis turns its attention to, perhaps, its toughest fall test of the year, facing off against the region's best at the ITA Northwest Regionals hosted by Stanford at the Taube Family Tennis Center in Stanford, California. The event begins on Friday (Oct. 17) and runs through Tuesday (Oct. 21), with a live stream available for all five days.
