DAVIS, Calif. - Freshman Rogan Dolan took a pass from senior Lisa Kemp late in the first half and scored from in front of the goal as UC Davis went on to beat the California Storm 1-0 in a women's soccer exhibition game on Sunday afternoon at Aggie Field.

The exhibition was the lone one of the preseason for UC Davis which will open the 2011 campaign on Friday at San Francisco. The Storm are members of the Women's Premier Soccer League and among its players Sunday were former Aggie goalie Sarah Peters.

Although UC Davis outshot the Storm 7-3 in the first half, the game was tied for much of the first 45 minutes. However, Kemp delivered a ball from the left side to Dolan in front. Dolan finished with a shot to the right side of the net, providing the game's only goal in the 43rd minute.

The Aggies outshot the Storm 18-8 overall including putting 11 on goal. Only three of the Storm's shots were on goal with Maria Magana picking up two saves for UC Davis and Kathleen Brandl the other.

"We set some goals early on about our ability to combine the attacking third, our movement off the ball and our team speed, and we did that," said head coach MaryClaire Robinson. "I think we did a pretty good job of getting the opportunities we needed to get and giving the people the minutes they needed to get their legs under them."

Peters had 10 saves for the Storm whose lineup also featured Sissi, a former star for the Brazilian national team who tied for top scoring honors at the 1999 World Cup. Sunday's game didn't finish until Brandl corralled Sissi's long set shot as time expired.

The Aggies will visit San Francisco on Friday at 7 p.m. before returning to host Seattle on Aug. 21 at 1 p.m.
