DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis men's tennis team ended a five-game homestead with a win, taking a 4-3 victory over Gonzaga on Saturday at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.
The Aggies won the doubles point and split in six singles matches en route to the one-point victory. UC Davis has won three of its last five matches, all of which have come at home. Nick Lopez and Connor Coates started the day with a win at No. 1 doubles, defeating Chong/Sullivan, 8-4. Toki Sherbakov and Kyle Miller followed with an 8-5 win over Ismath/Feeney to secure the doubles point.
Gonzaga took back the lead after a pair of singles wins, going up 2-1 with No. 4 and 5 singles victories. Lopez got the Aggies back in the win column by defeating Levin Guillermo, 6-4, 6-1. Kyle Miller also won in straight sets, downing Kevin Eischen 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Coates provided the clinching win with a 6-4, 6-1 defeat of Conor Feeney.
