Final Stats
DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis men's tennis team had some strong showings in several matches against No. 42 ranked Cal Poly but ultimately the Mustangs swept the Aggies, 7-0 on Saturday at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.
The highlight of the day for UC Davis was Nick Lopez and Connor Coates defeating the No. 32 ranked team of Dome/Sonesson at No. 1 doubles. The Aggies were unable to take the doubles point however, as Cal Poly went on to take three three-set matches in singles competition en route to the sweep.
With the win Cal Poly improved to 11-3 and 2-0 in conference play, while UC Davis dropped to 3-7 overall with a 0-2 mark in the Big West.
After winning at No. 2 and 3 doubles, No. 103 Andre Dome defeated Lopez at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-1. Toki Sherbakov came the closest to take a singles win after falling 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (5) to Alexander Sonesson at No. 2 singles. Connor Coates dropped a 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 match to Jordan Bridge, while George Horowitz also had a three-set loss to Sebastian bell at No. 6 singles.
The Aggies will look to bounce back tomorrow when they play host to the Montana Grizzlies in a 12 p.m. match.
