Final Stats

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The UC Davis men's tennis team had singles wins from Nick Lopez and Connor Coates despite a 5-2 loss to UC Riverside on Sunday at the Student Recreation Center Tennis Courts.

The Aggies remained winless in road games this season while the Highlanders snapped a 10-match losing streak and won their first Big West match since Feb. 18, 2007. UC Riverside improved to 3-18 on the season and 1-4 in conference play while UC Davis dropped to 4-11 with a 0-4 mark in Big West competition.

The No. 46-ranked team of Lopez and Coates started with a win in doubles action, defeating Quoc Doan and Michael Conroy, 8-4. The Highlanders went on to win the doubles point, with 8-5 and 8-4 wins at the No. 2 and 3 positions, respectively.

Coates made quick work of Conroy at No. 3 singles, taking a 6-2, 6-2 win for the Aggies. Lopez also won in straight sets by defeating Doan, 6-3, 6-2. George Horowitz extended his match into a third set, before falling 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 to Kevin Griffin in the No. 6 position. UC Riverside won in straight sets in its remaining matches to earn the 5-2 victory.

UC Davis will return home for the final two matches of the season, starting with Hawaii-Hilo on Tuesday, Apr. 19 at 2:30 p.m.
