Final Stats
PORTLAND, Ore. - The UC Davis men's tennis team wrapped up their weekend with by playing the Portland Pilots, dropping a 7-0 match Sunday, in Portland, Ore. at the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center.
Portland (4-1) took two out of three doubles matches over UC Davis (1-3), before sweeping all six matches in singles competition. The Aggies' No. 1 singles player, Toki Sherbakov, did not play after an injury suffered in Saturday's match.
Connor Coates and Nick Lopez picked up the lone win for UC Davis, defeating Alex Ferrero and Nick Wales in No. 1 doubles, 8-5. The Pilots managed to bounce back in No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, with 8-2 and 8-4 wins, respectively.
In singles competition, Lopez battled in three sets against Portland's Alex Ferrero, but ultimately fell 6-4, 6-7, 6-2. The Pilots cruised in singles play from there, taking two-set wins in the No. 2-5 positions, en route to the 7-0 win.
UC Davis will have a week off from competition, before playing their home and conference opener against UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 12 p.m.
