Final Stats
PORTLAND, Ore. - The UC Davis men's tennis team played their second of three matches this weekend, falling to Idaho 7-0 Saturday, in Portland, Ore. Toki Sherbakov and Connor Coates each won sets despite the loss.
UC Davis fell behind after dropping all three doubles matches. Nick Lopez and Toki Sherbakov had a strong showing, but suffered an 8-6 defeat to the team of Marius CIrstea and Joitoiu Alexandru. Pairings of Connor Coates/Alec Haley and George Horowitz/Chris Aria also dropped their matches, 8-3 and 8-1, respectively.
In the No. 1 singles position, Sherbakov won the first set of the match 4-6 against No. 56 ranked Marius Cirstea. Cirstea received the win however, after Sherbakov retired in the second set due to injury. Lopez was downed by Idaho's Lachian Reed, 6-4, 6-4. Coates and Aria each had narrow losses, with 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 and 7-6, 7-6 defeats in their respective matches.
UC Davis will face the host school in their final match of the weekend, playing Portland on Sunday.
