Final Stats
DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis tennis team dropped a 6-0 contest in its first conference match of the season, falling to UC Santa Barbara on Saturday at the Marya Welch Tennis Center. Singles were played first due to the uncertainty of weather and doubles play was suspended due to rain.
UC Davis (1-4, 0-1) played without their number one singles player, Toki Sherbakov, for the second consecutive match. UC Santa Barbara (2-4, 1-0) won all six singles matches in straight sets before doubles play ended early.
Nick Lopez was defeated by Alex Konigsfeldt in No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-1 before Connor Coates fell in the No. 2 position 6-2, 6-3 to Benjamn Recknagel. Alec Haley managed to win three games in each set, while Chris Aria, Kyle Miller and George Horowitz fell in their respective matches.
In the only doubles match that was completed, the pairing on Therp/Jurgense defeated Aria/J. Horowitz, 8-2. Teams of Lopez/Coates and Hayley/Miller were trailing 5-2 and 6-4 respectively before the match was called due to rain.
