CORVALLIS, Ore. - The UC Davis men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Seattle Sunday on the final day of the Oregon State Hensor/Zaher Nike Classic in Corvallis, Ore.
UC Davis is now 2-4 overall while Seattle moves to 2-3-1 on the season.
Although the Aggies took a few early shots, the Redhawks found the back of the net first with a goal in the 21st minute when Brady Ballew received a pass from Marshall Kosaka and snuck a shot into the lower left corner past UC Davis goalkeeper Ryan McCowan.
UC Davis continued to attack offensively with three straight shots towards the end of the first half, but two were saved by Seattle goalkeeper Ivan Dizdar while the third went over the crossbar.
In the second half, the Aggies continued to take shots but could not get the ball past Dizdar who finished the game with eight saves.
Lance Patterson and Rene Cuellar led UC Davis offensively with two shots each and the Aggies received contributions from six other players for 10 total shots. For Seattle, five different players recorded one shot apiece.
UC Davis also earned 10 corner kicks while giving up only one to Seattle.
The Aggies return to action Friday at the Washington Husky Fever Tournament in Seattle, Wash. UC Davis faces Portland Friday at 4:30 p.m. before taking on host Washington Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
