Final Stats

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Ashleigh Shoughro scored her seventh goal of the season, helping UNLV take a 2-1 victory over the UC Davis women's soccer team Sunday, at the UNLV Rebel classic in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Allison Kelly also found the back of the net for the Aggies, to tie the game at 1-1 heading into halftime. An early second half goal for the Rebels proved to be the game winner, as UNLV held on for the victory. With the loss, UC Davis dropped to 3-3-1, while UNLV improved to 6-3.

The scoring came early and often, as both teams managed to register goals within the first 15 minutes. Shoughro's goal came in just the fourth minute of play for the Rebels, bouncing a shot off the right post for the score.

UC Davis fired back to even the score at the 11:51 mark, thanks to Kelly's unassisted goal from close range. Both teams played even up for the remainder of the first half, with the Aggies holding a slight 10-9 shot advantage. Neither team capitalized on the attempts however, keeping the score at 1-1 during the intermission.

UNLV had another early opportunity to start the second half, with Macy Jo Harrison scoring in the 49th minute of play. The Rebels took advantage of an Aggie miscue, with Harrison scoring on a free kick from 20 yards out.

UC Davis had eight shots in the remainder of the game, three of which were on goal. Despite three shots in the last two minutes alone, the Aggies couldn't find the equalizer, as UNLV held on for a final 2-1 win.

Kathleen Brandl tallied six saves after a complete game in goal for UC Davis, while Kylie Wassell earned the win with seven saves for UNLV.

The Aggies will return home for a pair of matches next weekend, starting with San Francisco on Friday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m.
