DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis evened its Big West Conference record with a 4-3 men's tennis victory over UC Riverside Saturday afternoon at the Marya Welch Tennis Center. The Aggies swept through doubles before winning three more times in singles. The win improves UC Davis to 8-10 overall and 2-2 in the Big West. UCR fell to 3-15 and 0-4, respectively.

Doubles began with an Aggie win at No. 3 as Connor Coates and Toki Sherbakov defeated Sean Peterson and Ryan Stanbury, 8-2. Nic Amaroli and Tyler Lee were next to finish at No. 2 as they defeated Austin Andres and Michael Conroy, 8-5, to clinch the first point of the day. Hunter Lee and Nick Lopez were also victorious with an 8-6 win at No. 1.

UC Davis took its 1-0 lead into singles and made it 3-0 with a pair of victories at No. 6 and No. 5. Amaroli defeated Stanbury at No. 6, 6-4, 6-1. Hunter Lee had no problem at No. 5 against Peterson with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of the Highlander.

UC Riverside picked up a win at No. 3 to pull within 3-1, but Lopez gave the Aggies the clinching point when he defeated Quoc Doan at No. 1, 6-4, 6-0. It was the fourth straight singles win for the Aggie junior.

The final two matches at No. 4 and No. 2 went to UC Riverside.

UC Davis closes out its homestand and home schedule Sunday when it hosts No. 51 UC Irvine at noon. The match will also be the last at home for seniors Amaroli, Hunter Lee and Tyler Lee.
