Game 2
BERKELEY, Calif. - No. 13 California posted a pair of shutouts against UC Davis Sunday afternoon in a non-conference softball doubleheader at Levine-Fricke Field. The Golden Bears took the first game, 2-0, before prevailing 8-0 in the second. The Aggies (8-16) have now played seven games against nationally-ranked teams, including six against those in the top-15.
The first game was a pitching duel as the teams combined for just five hits. Cal (19-4) collected four of those, which helped lead to a run in the first and another in the third. Kylie Fan had the lone Aggie hit when she led off the fifth with a single. Freshman Dana Waldusky allowed just four hits. She struck out four and walked two in the complete-game loss.
The second game picked up where the first left off as Cal had just a 1-0 lead heading to the bottom of the fourth. That's when the Golden Bears erupted for seven runs and went on to win, 8-0, in five innings.
UC Davis returns to action Monday to host Iona in a doubleheader at La Rue Field. The first game begins at 1:30 p.m.
